- The Melady House is on the historical registry for Rapides. The first part of the structure which was the first floor was built in 1870. The rest of the structure which includes the 2nd floor was built at different times with the last major renovation being in 2008 which was the large room on the back of the house along with the patio on the side of the house. Many more renovations were done since 2008 which include the 4 bathrooms added to the right side of the home, the kitchen was remodeled making it larger, new cabinets, new appliances, granite countertops, flooring, etc. The back porch outside the kitchen was enclosed and turned into a storage area, laundry room, and a 24x30 storage building was added.
